DeVere Preston Henne, Jr.

DeVere Preston Henne, Jr., 71, of Pigeon passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Country Gardens Assisted Living in Pigeon with his family by his side. DeVere was born on November 6, 1954, in Pigeon, Michigan, to the late DeVere Sr. and Bette (Farmer) Henne, and was a 1973 graduate of Laker High School. After high school, DeVere worked for Sebewaing Industries, which later converted to Tower Automotive – Sebewaing, for 29 years. Additionally, he was a truck driver for Star of the West and worked at Berne Enterprises until his retirement in January of 2020. He married Annette Stoeckl on October 30, 1971, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing, and the pair spent over 50 years of loving marriage together. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2022.

DeVere coached Little League baseball and softball for many years in Bay Port and served with the Fairhaven Fire Department for 20 years until moving to Pigeon. He attended Bay Port Methodist Church where he was a Trustee until its closing, at which time he began attending First United Methodist Church in Pigeon. He was also a member of the Elkton Lions Club and the Caseville Fraternal Order of Eagles #3690. He loved supporting his children and grandchildren in all of their school activities, steer showings, and sports. DeVere would never turn down an opportunity to golf with his children and grandchildren for fun or charity events. He loved spending time with his family.

DeVere is survived by children, Tracie (Darrin) Schuette of Cass City, Trever (Heather) Henne of Cass City, and Tessa (Troy) Steinman of Pigeon; grandchildren, Alexis Schuette, Abigail Schuette, Aiden Schuette, Tori (Ryan) Gilbert, Tyson (Karli Kreger) Steinman, Mariah Henne, and Caleb Henne; sister, Marceline Fox (Mike) of Sebewaing; brother, Ralph A. Henne of Lansing; sisters-in-law, Alverta Stoeckl of Saginaw, Rose Marie Stoeckl of Saginaw, Roberta Stoeckl of Pigeon, and Marlene Hollenbeck of Swartz Creek; and brother-in-law, Leland Stoeckl (Kim) of Mt. Morris; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, friends, and his special friend Peggy Hellwig.

DeVere was preceded in death by wife, Annette Henne; sister, Brook (Brian) Stock; and brothers-in-law, Charles Fox and David Hollenbeck.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Country Gardens for their loving care of DeVere during his time there.

In accordance with DeVere’s wishes, cremation is to take place. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Pigeon.
