Dewayne M. Austin

DeWayne M. Austin, age 79, of Unionville, passed away late Thursday night, April 13, 2017, at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City.

DeWayne was born May 30, 1937, in Unionville, to Merle and Phila (Hovey) Austin. He married Barbara A. Bell on May 21, 1957, at Colling Nazarene Parsonage in Unionville. He was a self-employed farmer and retired from Michigan Sugar Company as an agricultural mechanic. He enjoyed tinkering, gardening, fishing, traveling and loved animals.

DeWayne is survived by his wife, Barbara; children: Terry (Robin) Austin, Tim Austin, Cindy Austin, Becky Austin, Kevin Austin and Michelle "Shelly" (Matt) Sting; 17 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

DeWayne is preceded in death by his 2 infant children, Christine and Richard Austin; siblings: Wanda Griesmayer, Theron Austin, Norman Austin and Rula Walthers.

Visitation will be Monday, April 17, 2017, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 3-8pm.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at the funeral home at 1pm. Visitation will be from 12pm-1pm.

Burial will take place at Hickory Island Cemetery in Akron Township.

Memorial donations may be given to McLaren Hospice.
