Diane Marie Hurd of Gagetown, formerly of Bay City, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous six year battle with cancer. Diane was born July 14, 1943 in Bay City, the daughter of the late Roy and Dorothy (Chevalier) Jean. She graduated from Visitation Catholic High School and went on to work as a bookkeeper for a short period of time. While out with friends, Diane met Duane Hurd. After some convincing and courting, Diane fell in love with Duane and they were united in marriage on August 10, 1963 at Visitation Church in Bay City. Duane brought the city girl to the farm and together they built a beautiful life and home in Gagetown. They were blessed with fifty-nine years, three wonderful children, five loving grandchildren, many beloved furbabies, and countless memories. Diane loved to work on the farm, drive the tractor, and hoe the field with her daughters. She enjoyed painting, crafts, and was wonderful at decorating. Diane was a loving homemaker and even redecorated their home in Florida, making it look like a real-life dollhouse. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Red Hats Society. Diane adored her family and pets, they were the lights of her life. Her strong, selfless, loving, and caring memory will live on for generations to come. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Duane Hurd; daughters, Yvette Hurd, Tammy (Greg) Bliss, and Jodie (John) Cleveland; grandchildren, Kaytlin, Gunner, Brecken, and Gavin; sisters-in-law, Pam (Barry) Sting and Sharada (Tom) Seurynck; cousins, Mark Coons and Dottie (Mike) Gill; along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Diane was welcomed home to heaven by her granddaughter, Olivia. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Christopher Coman officiating.
