Dolores Eva Amanda Elftman, age 95, of Pigeon, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, July 19, 2025.
Dolores was born in Huron County on October 23, 1929 to Arthur and Lydia (Dorsch) Gaeth. She graduated from Sebewaing High School in 1947. On December 17, 1949 she married Loren Elftman in Kilmanagh. She worked as the cook for Cross Lutheran School in Pigeon for over 24 years. She was also one of the founders for Meals on Wheels in Pigeon. She was also a member of Cross Lutheran Church, Quilting Ministry, Circle Group, Sunday school teacher and member of the Farm Bureau. She also enjoyed baking, traveling, collecting antiques, going to flea markets, working crossword puzzles, yard work and watching the Detroit Tigers.
Dolores is survived by her children: Marjorie (Melvin) Kuhl of Sebewaing, Christine (Michael) Stodola of Jenison, David (Janis) Elftman of Filion and Catherine (Rev. Henry) Hales of Palms; 7 grandchildren: Ryan (Heather) Kuhl, Joshua (Alicia) Kuhl, Erica (Michael) Armbruster, Joseph Stodola, Lauren Stodola, Hannah Hales and Seth Hales; 11 great grandchildren: Avery, Brooklynn, Channing, Dustin, Emersynn, Charlotte, Dylan, Luke, Morgan, Kenzie and Brady; sister-in-law, Bonnie Gaeth; brother-in-law's: Clark Elftman and Leon & Leil Elftman; and many nieces and nephews.
Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandchildren: Aaron and Adam Kuhl; siblings: Clarence Gaeth, Brenda & Donald Orban.
The visitation and funeral will all be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Cross Lutheran Church in Pigeon. Visitation will begin at 10am at the church until the time of service at 11am. Officiating will be her son-in-law, Rev. Henry Hales. Burial will be private at the church cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to Cross Lutheran School-Kitchen Fund, Meals on Wheels or Country Gardens.
The family would like to thank Country Gardens for the great care they gave mom for the last 6 years. The words "thank you" are not enough! Also, thank you to Season's Change Hospice.
