Dolores D. Selby, 87, of Pigeon, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.
Dolores was born at home April 1, 1928 in Detroit to the late Walter and Agnes (Klein) Szczepanski. She raised her family in Sterling Heights before moving to Bay Port in 1973 where she owned and operated the Silver Dollar Saloon. She was an active member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Pigeon, where she served as an acolyte and on the Altar Society; she was also a member of the Caseville American Legion Auxiliary honor guard.
She is survived by her children Connie Strohecker of Sterling Heights, Kathy (Richard) Rybicki of St. Clair Shores, Chester (JoAnn) Kowalski of Caseville, Kenneth (Karen) Kowalski of Lake Orion, Danny (Cheryl) Kowalski of Pigeon, Debra (Michael) Loucks of Charlotte, Richard Selby of Cass City, James and Steven Selby, both of Texas; 22 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and sisters Joyce Henry of Alger, Darlene Kuhn of Davison and Sandy (Frank) Dulinski of Warren. She was preceded in death by the father of her children Chester Kowalski, husband William Selby, daughter Deborah Kowalski and step son Jack Selby.
A funeral mass will be at 11:00am Saturday, August 15th at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Utica. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
Visitation will be Noon to 8 pm Thursday and Noon to 5 pm Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. She will lie in-state one hour prior to mass on Saturday in church. There will be a rosary at 5:00pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Caseville American Legion.
