Don G. Bennett

Don G. Bennett, age 76, of Sand Point, died Sunday morning, October 27, at Bay Medical Center, Bay City.
He was born May 2, 1926, in Lansing to the late William and Bessie (Crumb) Bennett.
Don was inducted in to the US Navy in 1943, serving in the South Pacific during WWII. When he returned he went back to school receiving a degree in engineering from Michigan State.
On Oct 29, 1971, he was united in marriage to Elsie (Friebe) DeShano in Bay City.
In 1989, he retired from Gerace Construction, Midland and moved from Freeland to the home on Sand Point he began building in 1982.
He was a member of St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville, Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree, Caseville-Pigeon, Caseville Kiwanis Club, former Caseville Twp. Clerk, served on the Caseville Twp Planning Commission and was instrumental in starting the Point of Sand Point Assn.
Don enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and snow and water skiing.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie; ten children, Ken (Debbie) DeShano of Poulsbo, WA, Cathy (Tony) Johnson of Tucson, AZ, Randy DeShano of Auburn, Rhonda (Daniel) Roth of Linwood, Brian (DeAun) DeShano of Edenville, John (Debbie) Bennett of Grand Blanc, Tim Bennett and Patrick (Tammy) Bennett of Tulsa, OK, Daniel (Marie) Bennett of Belton, TX and Jennifer (Kelly) Fagan of Jeddo. Also surviving are nineteen grandchildren; a great granddaughter and his brother, William Bennett of Indianapolis, IN.
A funeral mass will be conducted 11:30 AM Wednesday, October 30, at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Yaroch, pastor will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.

St. Roch, American Heart Assn. or the Cancer Society.
