Don Franklin Masters, age 81, of Caseville, died Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe.
Don was born in Middlesbourough, Kentucky on March 27, 1929 to the late Walton and Cornie (Chadwell) Masters. He lived in Kentucky until joining the US Navy in 1948. He moved to Detroit following his time in the Navy. There he met and married Dolores J. Chrzanowski on October 1, 1949.
In 1981 Don retired after 31 years with General Motors Powertain in Ypsilanti as an electrician. Don’s family had been coming to Caseville since 1964, and after retiring Don moved from Garden City to Caseville. He was a member of the Caseville Rod and Gun Club, the Masons, and a former member of the Community Baptist Church in Garden City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife Dolores; children Daniel (Janice) of Westland, Donna (Gerald) Berg of Hartland and Donald (Barbara) of Onsted; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son David.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday, October 11th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville.
Visitation will be Noon to 6:00 pm Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Memorials may be made to the Huron County Medical Care Facility Activities Fund.
