Donagene Elaine Ewald

Donagene Elaine Ewald of Caro, age 90, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro with her family by her side. Donagene was born November 30, 1933 in Fairgrove, the daughter of the late Milton and Helen (Maier) Hall. She was a 1951 graduate of Fairgrove High Schol where she was a class representative. Donna was united in marriage with Omar Robert Drager in 1955, and he preceded her in death on January 19, 1957. She married Richard James Ewald in October of 1958, and he preceded her in death on February 4, 2003. Donna had been employed with the County of Tuscola working in the Equalization Department from 1971-1995, and also held several other secretarial positions throughout the years. In her leisure time, she enjoyed riding motorcycles, snowmobiles, dune buggies and camping, and had bowled for many years. Most importantly, she loved her family and enjoyed time spent with them.

Donagene leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Ronald Drager of Caro, James K. Ewald and wife, Sheila, of Arkansas, Keith Ewald of Caro; three grandchildren, Kevin Ewald of Fairgrove, Joe Ewald of Cass City, and Jay Ewald of Arkansas; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a neighbor and special friend, Raymond Root; a daughter, Cheryl Ann Ewald; and siblings, Donald Hall and Lyle Hall.

Donagene’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community for the warm and loving care they provided during her time there.

In keeping with Donagene’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday. February 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Interment will be at Ellington Township Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
