Donald C. Bolger
Donald C. Bolger, age 70, of Durand, Michigan was born June 15, 1944 in Bay City, Michigan and passed away on February 24, 2015 in Flint, Michigan. He was the son of the late Christian J. and Marian R. Bolger. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanual Lutheran Church in Sebewaing, Michigan. He graduated from Sebewaing High School in 1962.
He received an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Michigan Technological University; an M.B.A. from Georgia; a Juris Doctorate from the Detroit College of Law (now affiliated with Michigan State University); a Masters in Engineering from Oakland University; and engaged in doctoral studies in Engineering from Oakland University (he was A.B.D. – all but dissertation).
As an undergraduate, he was a member of ROTC. He was active duty in the United States Air Force stationed in Georgia. He continued his military career in the Air Force Reserves and retired having attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
He was employed by the General Motors Corporation as an engineer for 30 plus years. He also practiced law as a patent attorney.
Surviving him are son, Benjamin B. Bolger and wife Yuan Anil Bolger, grandchild Benjamina B. Bolger of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Benjamin's mother, Loretta J. Bolger of Grand Haven, Michigan. A sister, Marel L. Staisil of Sebewaing, Michigan and sister-in-law, Katherine L. Bolger of Brighton, Michigan. Surviving nieces and nephews: Michael Staisil with wife Merris and son Cole, Michele DeTombeur with husband Chris and daughter Alex, Marci Augenstein with husband Jeremy and sons Mitchell and Henry, and Jason Bolger with wife Rosalind and daughter Scarlet. Special thanks to caregiver Gigi Stevens.
Preceding him in death are parents, Christian J. and Marian R. Bolger; brother, Barry C. Bolger; and brother-in-law, Howard S. Staisil.
Visitation will be at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing, Michigan on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 11am to 2pm.
Memorials can be made to Relay for Life of Sebewaing and Unionville (benefiting the American Cancer Society), the University of Michigan's Neuro-Oncology Program, or the charity of your choice.
