Donald Floyd Burgett

Donald Floyd Burgett , age 85, of Bay Port, passed away under hospice care at the Toni and Trish House on Friday, October 15, 2021.

Donald was born in Deckerville on January 16, 1936, to George and Minna (Gotham) Burgett. He grew up in the "Thumb" area of Michigan and worked since he was 12 years old. He joined the United States Army from June 1, 1955 to May 31, 1957 and trained as an Airborne Paratrooper until an injury occurred. After the Army, he worked 37 ½ years for General Motors – Flint Truck and Bus, retiring in 1972. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching wildlife and watching the Detroit Tigers and Lions.

Donald is survived by his children: Sandra (Charles) Wible, Susan (Wes) Warren, Mark (Lisa) Burgett and Kevin (Pam) Spencer; grandchildren: Michael (Annette) Wible, Jodi (Jace) Hurren, Charles (Misti) Wible, IV, Sean Wszelaki, Krisiti Burgett and Kevin (Megan) Spencer, Jr.; great grandchildren; siblings: Patricia (Ronald) Kuhl, William Burgett and James (Clara) Burgett; sisters-in-law: Gail Burgett and Ruth Burgett; and many nieces and nephews.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Franklin, Russell, Duane, Betty Griggs, Thelma Feinauer, Bonnie Owens, Marie Quintel and Roselynn Burgett.

Visitation and service will be Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Juengel-Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 12;30pm-2pm, with a service at 2pm. Officiating will be Brian Reinhardt from Sons Life Missionary Church in Sebewaing.
