Donald E. Fish

Donald E. Fish of Caro, age 82, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro, following a lingering illness. Don was born September 2, 1931 in Saline, the son of the late Dr. Ray H. and Elva L. (McClintic) Fish. Don was a graduate of Caro High School, joined the Merchant Marines and sailed the Great Lakes and served in the US Army from 1952-1953 while stationed at Fort Attiberry, Indiana. He was united in marriage with Carolyn "Sue" Lockyer on June 15, 1972, and she survives him. Don was employed at the Caro Regional Center for thirty-two years, retiring as General Supervisor in 1984. He also worked part time at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility for ten years and drove bus for Caro Community Schools for ten years. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing, and together with Sue they enjoyed snowmobiling, traveling, especially on their motorcycles and with their RV's, reading, yard work, such as gardening, planting trees, camping, and food - especially Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends. Don is survived by his wife of over forty-one years, Sue Fish of Caro; his children, Martin & Crystal Fish of Florida, Lyn & Joseph Rodgreques of Bay City, Matthew Fish of Tennessee, Denise & Brian Tretheway of Swartz Creek; a son-in-law, Gregory Kovacs of Caro; six grandchildren, Justin Fish of California, Ashley Moreria of North Carolina, Christopher Rodgreques of Bay City, Jessica Kueterman of Haslett, Raymond and Jason Fish of Tennessee, Aaron Jacques of Flint; several great-grandchildren; his siblings, Albert & Anne Fish, Alan Fish and Iris Hiser; many nieces, nephews and his family and friends at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Keith; one brother-in-law, Adrian Hiser; one step-daughter, Audrey Sue Kovacs. In keeping with Don's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 4:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility.
