Donald J. Gemmell

Donald J. Gemmell, age 72 of Filion died Tuesday morning, March 4, at Huron Medical Center, Bad Axe following a probable heart attack.
He was born July 5, 1935, at the home of his parents, the late Clayton and Ardis (Jarvis) Gemmell in Grant Twp.
After high school, Don started driving truck, first hauling cattle, then driving big rigs locally and cross country for 39 years. Don never retired, for the past 8 years he has been delivering the Huron Daily Tribune in the rural areas of Huron County.
On August 25, 2001, Don married Genevieve "Jean" Cooper at the LDS Church in Bad Axe and they made their home in Filion.
He was a member of the Latter Day Saints Church of Bad Axe. His hobby was his work, he truly enjoyed driving and working with his friends at the Tribune. Don also enjoyed the trains and miniature towns his wife would set up at Christmas time.
Surviving are his wife, Jean, his children, Gary Gemmell of Marlette, Darlene (Terry) Ordish of Sandusky, Donna (Larry) Beatty of Sandusky, Gayle (Steve) Dunsmore of Goodells, Kim (Richard) Palmer of Cass City, Lorraine Nesbit of Sandusky, Ann Marie Gorkowski of Bad Axe, Robert (Kathy) Gemmell of Baileyville, IL and Karen (Don) Errer of Bad Axe; three step children, Robert McCracken of Bad Axe, Jerry (Crystal) Leggier of Kinde and Regina (Joseph) Phillips of Elkton; fourteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren; thirteen step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; his brother, Lewis (Baraca) Gemmell of Mio and his sister, Charlene (Tom) Craig of Pigeon.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:30 PM Friday, March 7, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. The family will receive friends from 2 to 7:30 on Friday.
