Donald William Herford

Donald W. Herford, 63, of Elkton, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at home.

Don was born August 10, 1957 in Bad Axe to the late Edwin and Marlene (Burgess) Herford. He graduated from Laker High School in 1975. He married Ann Kuch on August 20, 1977 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church-Berne.

He was first and foremost a farmer in addition to owning his own transmission repair business, and no challenge intimidated him. He enjoyed many traveling adventures with his wife Ann, watching old Western movies and drag racing. Anyone he met became a friend.

Don is survived by his wife Ann; sibling Denny (Beverly) of Asheville, NC, Donna Steinman of Pigeon and Dawn (Stuart) Jahr of Bay City; sister-in-law Sherril (Lee) Steinman of Pigeon, brother-in-law Ronald (Connie) Kuch of Caseville and sister-in-law Lori (Joe) Neal-Wonsowicz of Caseville; nieces and nephews Shannon (Dorelly) Herford, Hayley (Jonathan) Leaf, Christine (David) Nelson, Robert (Jillian) Steinman, Joshua (Kari) Steinman, Heather and Zachary Jahr, Jim (Tricia) Steinman, Jeremy (Heidi) Steinman, Jason Kuch, David (Amy) Kuch, Brandon Neal, Rebecca (Jordan) Finkbeiner and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

PRIVATE funeral services will be Saturday, January 23rd at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church-Berne with Rev. Steve Neuman officiating. PUBLIC visitation will be 9-11 Saturday at church. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
