Donald M. Kanyak Sr, 77, of Caseville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 1, 2011 with his family at his side after a bout with cancer.
Don was born November 11, 1933 in Vassar to the late Michael and Erma (Watts) Kanyak. His family moved to a farm in Caseville when he was 5 years old. He was a farmer most of his life and worked at Active Industries in Elkton for 25 years. He was a member of the Pigeon Conservation Club. He enjoyed deer hunting, time with family and his work on the farm.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Sylvia (Cilc); children Donald Jr of Chattanooga, TN, Cindy of Calumet, Tony Sr of Caseville, Judy and Marie of Blue Ridge, GA, Maryann “Bebo” of Murphy, NC and Steve (Nicole Collins) of Caseville; grandchildren Misty, Shawn, Tony Jr., Bryon, Kelly, Shad, Laci, Eric, BJ and Darien; great-granchildren Jason, Dylan, Hunter, Cory and Zane; and a sister Marilyn (Harry) Renn of Elkton.
He was preceded in death by his son Kenny in 2004, brother Junior and sister Delores Ovcen.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, August 6th at Calvary Baptist Church in Caseville with Rev. Mike Goforth officiating, followed by a luncheon at the church. Friends and family can begin arriving at 10:00 am. Cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory.
