Donald Myron Petiprin of Caro, age 88, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at his home. Don was born May 2, 1934 in Caro, the son of the late Myron and Mary (Fryz) Petiprin. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army, 15th Engineer Division. He was a heavy equipment operator who with his lifelong friend, Tex, helped build the Mary Ellen Dam. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he was employed at Saginaw Steering Gear for thirty-two years. Following a year of boredom after retirement at age forty-nine, Don started his own landscaping business at age fifty, working his way up to sixty-two customers. He loved being outdoors and took personal pride in his own yard and flowers. Don was united in marriage with the former Viola Dietz on January 12, 1957 in Caro. Following sixty-two years of marriage, Vi preceded him in death on December 11, 2019. Don was an avid U of M fan. He loved time spent with his family, with his greatest joy being time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don is survived by five children, Jim Petiprin of Coloma, Anna Petiprin-Brightman and husband, Richard, of Midland, Linda Voelker of Caro, Chris Petiprin and Cherie Page of San Diego, California, John Petiprin of Caro; eleven grandchildren, Jason & Haven Petiprin, Joshua & Natalie Petiprin, Nicole Steffan, Christine & Daniel Mahoney, Megan Steffan, Jacqueline & Lorenzo Reynero, Jeanette & Rhys Holder, Caihla Petiprin and fiance, Jourdan Looney, Colton Petiprin, Sheena & Brandon Joles, Sarah and Trent Fox; great-grandchildren, Brett Green, Gavyn Vandeberghe, Amiah Graves, Arianna Joles, Connor Tessin, Teagan Fuller, Avian Graves, Hailee Petiprin, Lorenzo Reynero, Jr., Ava Holder, Aubreanna Joles, Lucas Reynero, Colt, Cooper and Case Mahoney, Skylar Mendoza-Stefffan, Bryce Petiprin, Mila Joles, Jett Petiprin, and soon to be born, Ellie Grace Fox; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Don was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Kurt Steffan; four sisters and four brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2023, with Rev. Christopher Coman officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro with military honors provided by the U.S. Army and Caro American Legion Post #7. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a time of remembrance beginning at 3:30 p.m. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Christopher Parish or the American Cancer Society. Don will be remembered by many as a coffee and donut kind of guy. Visitation Information Date: Sunday, January 8, 2023 Time: 2:00 pm End Time: 6:00 pm The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Service Information Date: Monday, January 9, 2023 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2023, with Rev. Christopher Coman officiating. Cemetery Information Date: Monday, January 9, 2023 Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro with military honors provided by the U.S. Army and Caro American Legion Post #7.
