Donald Paul Racheter

Donald P. “Don” Racheter, PhD, 76, of West Lafayette, Indiana, formerly of Pigeon, died on February 24, 2024 from cancer.

Racheter is survived by his wife, Ellen Racheter, of West Lafayette, Indiana; his daughter Annalese Racheter (Aaron Alford) and their daughter, of Ankeny, Iowa; his daughter Alena Furlong (Nick) and their two sons, of Missoula, Montana; his son, Chip Racheter (Stephanie) and their baby, of Del Valle, Texas; his stepdaughter, Kelley Kimm, of West Lafayette, Indiana; his sister, Deann Jackson-Flues, of Pensacola, Florida; his nephew, Shawn Jackson, of Bay City, Michigan; and his niece, Lori Seese, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Aleatha Racheter, of Pigeon, Michigan.

During his life, Racheter achieved distinction as a political science professor, mock trial coach, military officer, political activist, think tank founder, pre-law advisor, public speaker, Boy Scout, author, and leader of numerous volunteer groups and professional organizations.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, 7356 W Michigan Ave, Pigeon, MI 48755.  Burial with military honors will be in Grand Lawn Cemetery, Pigeon, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to either the "Racheter Impact Award" of the Midwest Association of Pre-Law Advisors (MAPLA) or the "Don Racheter Mock Trial Invitational" of Central College.
