Donald Melvin Romain

Donald Melvin Romain of Caro, age 82, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2020. Don was born March 6, 1938 in Caro, the son of the late Melvin and Lucille (Rabideau) Romain. He graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1956 and joined the U.S. Army, serving with the Adjutant General Corp. Following his discharge from the Army, he worked five years in shops and then more than thirty years for the State of Michigan as an attendant nurse. Don was united in marriage with the former Nancy Osgerby on March 7, 1964 in Cass City. He enjoyed exercising and spending time with family. Don is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Nancy Romain of Caro; four children and their spouses, Gary & Kim Romain of Fairgrove, Gregory & Connie Romain of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Donald & Amy Romain of East Lansing, Dana & Greg Hover of Caro; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale Romain and Melvin Romain, both of Caro; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by three sisters, Delores Romain, Geraldine Weiss and Joann McKillop; and one brother, Ramon Romain. In keeping with Don's wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro with Rev. Christopher Coman officiating. Military honors will be afforded by the U.S. Army and the Caro V.F.W. Post #4164.
