Donald J. Ruppal, Jr.

Donald J. Ruppal, Jr. of Akron, age 67, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at McLaren - Bay Region in Bay City. Don was born August 24, 1953 in Caro, the son of the late Donald, Sr. and Genevieve (Petiprin) Ruppal. He was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Akron-Fairgrove High School with the class of 1971. While in high school, Don learned the meat cutting trade at the Morton General Store in Akron and later worked in the meat department at Clint's Foodland in Akron and Luke's Supermarket in Sebewaing. For thirty-two years he worked at Sebewaing Industries as a line leader and later in quality control until the plant closure. Never one to stop moving, Don continued working at WOW Plastics in Caro and several area shops. He was an avid and accomplished bowler and an even better storyteller. He had many titles, but his favorites were "Pa", "Seagull", and "The Barbeque King". No one was a stranger for long and countless people will remember his easy-going nature and generosity. In his spare time, Don could often be found fishing, camping, and playing softball or cornhole. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of forty-seven years, Sandra Ruppal of Akron; two children and their spouses, Kevin & Nicole Ruppal of Akron, Amy & Erik Hatfield of Akron; four grandchildren, Cadence Ruppal, Jacob "J.P." Preston, Dreu Ava Hatfield, Carter Hatfield, all of Akron; eight siblings and their spouses, Gary & Elaine Ruppal of Montana, Marsha Gordon of California, Rick Ruppal of Fairgrove, Richard & Vicky Ruppal of Akron, Connie Ruppal and friend, Don Morton, of Millington, Stephen & Victoria Ruppal of Caro, David & Rachel Ruppal of Fairgrove, Jeffrey Ruppal of Fairgrove; brother-in-law, Ken Stoll of Fairgrove; special aunt and uncle, Harold & Norma Ruppal of Akron; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by two sisters, infant Kimberly Ruppal and Nancy Lee Stoll. Don's family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow the visitation and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
