Donald James Weisenbach, Sr., age 80, of Owendale, a proud veteran of the army, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024 at Autumnwood of Deckerville.
Doanld was born in Huron County on September 2, 1943, the beloved son of Harold and Thelma (Bossert) Weisenbach. He grew up surrounded by a large family, which included one sister, Barbara (Bill) Sting, and brothers: Dennis, Harold, Jr. (Marge), and Gary (Carrie) Weisenbach.
Donald was preceded in death by his brothers: Robert (Barb), Dick (Shirley), and Dave Weisenbach, sisters: Shirley (Chuck) Gaeth, Geri Koepf, Betty (Benny) Carter, and Kathy (Bob) Hodder.
Donald is survived by his son, Donald (Monica) Weisenbach, Jr., and daughters: Melissa (Chris) Miller and Jodi Kent, friend Wendy Weisenbach; 5 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Donald graduated from Sebewaing High School in 1962. On November 2, 1968, he married Karen Faber in Bach, MI. Together they built a life, until Karen's passing on January 21, 2024. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam. Donald worked at the Unionville elevator and numerous elevators throughout the thumb. He liked to hunt, fish, going for drives to look at the local fishing spots, listening to old music, scratching lottery tickets, and playing cards (especially euchre).
A special thank you to the nurses at Compassus Hospice (especially Christy Whetstone) and the nurses and staff at Autumnwood.
Visitation and service will be Friday, August 9, 2024, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at 10am until the time of service at 12pm. Pastor Thom Garrison will be officiating along with a military service. Burial will be at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Bach immediately after the service.
