After a long and faithful life as a servant of God, Donald Wrobel left this earthly existence on March 17, 2019. He was born, February 19, 1922, to Francis (Frank) and Frances (Pietruszewski) Wrobel in Bay City. His parents provided a humble and loving home for him and his siblings. Don enlisted in the US Navy on February 22, 1942 and served in the Pacific campaign during WWII as a signalman on the USS Clay until his honorable discharge on December 31, 1945. After the war, he worked for a short time at Baker Perkins in Saginaw. On June 25, 1947, Don married the former Niceta Elizabeth Romain (daughter of Peter and Mary Lucy (Mae) Romain) in Caro. They raised their seven children in Caro and were faithfully married for sixty-one years. Niceta preceded Don in death on October 28, 2008. They were lifetime members of Sacred Heart Church where he worked as the first custodian of the Sacred Heart School, and the church, rectory and convent from 1952-1984. He was also employed by Peoples State Bank as a custodian for fourteen years. Don loved to fish and to tell stories that made people laugh. He devoted his life to his family and serving others. He built their marital home and was helpful to others with home repairs. Don enjoyed wood working and also taught 4-H for a short time. After retirement, he continued his passion for fishing with his buddies and watching football and westerns on TV. Don was grateful daily by singing songs of praise for enjoying a long and healthy life. Don is survived by his children, Teresa Ann (Joseph) Hearn, Mary Frances Ashcroft Seehagen, Rose Marie (William D.) Putnam, Damian Francis (Rita) Wrobel, Martha Jane (Kenneth) Hannah, Martin Peter (Carol) Wrobel and Clara Louise Longoria; grandchildren, Paula, Edward, Catherine, Rachael, Amanda, Matthew, Lucas, Greg, Elissa, Callie, Joel, Crystal and Kevin; great-grandchildren, Carson, Justine, Jasmine, Isabella, Caden, Finlay and Sawyer.
