Donella A. Zalewski

Donella “Dee” Zalewski, 81, of Caseville, died Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw after suffering a massive stroke earlier in the day.

Dee was born April 4, 1931 in McGregor to the late Marcus and Helen (McGregor) Bowerman. She grew up near the Sandusky/McGregor area in Sanilac County. She married Henry J. Zalewski on December 24, 1974 in Plymouth.

She had lived in Livonia and raised her family there. She and her husband both worked at Clyde Smith & Sons Nursery in Westland. Dee has been a part time resident of Caseville nearly her entire life. She enjoyed BINGO, casinos, golfing, bowling and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband Henry; children Susan H. (Trent) DeVerna of Caseville and James E. (Patricia) Kaminiecki of Florida; step-children Micahel Zalewski of Hawaii, Judy K. Lehman of Novi, Kathy (Alan) Heinig of Fowlerville and Brad (Tricia) Zalewski of Brighton; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and sisters Dorothy (Don) McAllister of California, Doris (Ted) Neauderbaumer of California and Dawn McKellar of Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Dale and Duane Bowerman.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 4th at the Caseville Eagles Club followed by a luncheon. Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choosing.
