Donna Marie Keyes

Donna Marie Keyes of Caro, age 63, passed away on September 5, 2023 at her home. Donna Marie Keyes was born in Detroit on July 13, 1960. She was the fourth child born to Patricia Francis LaBelle and Donald Leon Keyes. During her toddler and preschool years, she along with her parents and siblings lived in the lower thumb area of Michigan including Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. In 1964, she and her family moved to Algonac where most of her elementary school and play years were spent. Donna and her family moved to Port Austin in 1972 and then to Kinde Michigan in 1973. It was in the latter place where her secondary and most of her high school education took place.

The medical field was her career of choice. She attended Central Michigan University and received her bachelor’s degree. She spent numerous years working for Covenant Healthcare and other various healthcare centers. She was forced into an early retirement due to complications from Covid.

Donna has two children Kayla (Paul) Sturm of Caro, and Matthew (Becky) Clark of Bad Axe. She has two grandsons (Benjamin and Wesley) and was looking forward to the birth of her third grandson (Brady) in January. In addition to her children and grandchildren Donna is survived by her siblings Roxann (Raymond) Mills of Capac, Kim (Bert) Kinnear of Sault St. Marie, Donald Keyes of Houghton Lake, and Patrick (Tracy) Novosad of Rives Junction as well as several nieces and nephews.

Donna never talked about dying, but instead talked about living. Donna loved baking homemade bread, quilting, card making, and crocheting afghans and baby blankets for her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

In keeping with Donna's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial is being planned for a later date.
