Donna Jean Proper

Donna Jean Proper of Akron, age 57, passed away at her home on Thursday, March 4, 2021 with her loving family by her side. Donna was born October 29, 1963 at the Naval base hospital in Pensacola, Florida, the daughter of the late Donald James Jackson & Jenny Jane (Spencer) Vargo. Donna grew up in Caro, graduated from Caro High School, and went on to complete two years of college. She met her lifelong love, Dwain Allen Proper, at the age of fifteen and they were united in marriage on December 13, 1984, and he survives. Donna was a devoted wife and mother who made her family and loved ones her main accomplishment in life. Among her many interests in life were cooking, her garden, and being able to use her fresh vegetables. Donna was a classy lady and a true Scorpio, being stubborn and always truthful and generous. She was a free spirit who loved to celebrate life, her family and friends, never discriminating or judging others. Donna was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan. She is survived by her loving husband of thirty-six years, Dwain Proper of Akron; three children, Dwain Allen Proper, Jr., Brandon Lee Proper, and Brandy Ann Proper; four grandsons, Brayden Proper, Theo Inches, Maxx Proper and Leon Proper; two sisters, Sherry Jackson, Rebecca (Jackson) Neuville; one step-brother, Mark Wilcox; Donna's special friend, Michelle Ozbat; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Ronald Jackson, Arnold Jackson and Penny Jackson; two nephews, Rocky Clark and Jason Proper; and many aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor Joe Atchinson officiating. Burial will be at Demorest Cemetery in Akron at a later date.
