Donna Jean Schember

Donna Jean Schember of Unionville, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro. Donna was born April 14, 1935 in Unionville, one of seven children born to the late Earl and Velta (Sontag) Stock, and was a graduate of Owendale High School, Class of 1953. Donna was united in marriage with Raymond Keith Baker on October 30, 1954 in Bowling Green, Ohio and he preceded her in death on July 27, 1973. She then married Frederick Schember on October 10, 1980 and he also preceded her in death. Donna loved to knit and crochet, always making sure each grandchild received an afghan or sweater at birth. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. Donna is survived by six children, Ricky Baker of Ocala, Florida, Randy Baker of Owendale, Tracy LaFave and her husband, Michael, of Unionville, David Baker of Battle Creek, Renee Baker of Cape Coral, Florida, Raymond Baker of Caro; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, June Markert of Florida; one brother-in-law, Fred Armbruster of Jonesville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, Donna was preceded in death by one daughter, Kim Burch; one great-grandson, Anthony Baker; and the remainder of her siblings and their spouses, Harlan & Helen Stock, Delphine & L.J. Dillon, Barbara Wald, Nira Stock, and Connie Armbruster. In keeping with Donna's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the summer of 2021 with the hope that COVID restrictions will be lifted. Information will be posted to this website as it becomes available.
