Donna J. Spencer of Deford, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at her daughter’s home in Paw Paw. Donna was born March 2, 1930 in Vassar, the daughter of the late George and Beryl (Harrison) Vincent. She attended the local schoolhouse and received high honors in the 8th grade which led to her having lunch at the Hotel Montague in Caro with Ben H. McComb, the director of Tuscola County Schools. Donna married the love of her life, Allen E. Spencer, on July 27, 1946 at the home of the Justice of the Peace in Vassar. Their marriage was blessed with nearly seventy years, seven children, countless memories, and many family vacations. Sadly, Allen passed away on December 26, 2015. Donna was a cook at Heatherstone Nursing Home in Caro and later retired from Ben Franklin in Cass City. She always kept busy, from tending to her flower beds and preparing delicious holiday meals to taking care of the farm and milking the cows. Throughout life, Donna enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, antique stores and craft shows, drawing, word searches, and puzzles. She will forever be remembered for her delicious homemade doughnuts and her love of music. Above all else, Donna was very proud of her family and all their accomplishments. Her love and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Donna leaves to cherish her memory her children, Gary (Marie) Spencer, Gloria Osentoski, Judy (Anthony) Albin, Johnny (Gerry) Spencer, Ronald “Rusty” (Sherryl) Spencer, Debbie (Terry) Fosdick; daughter-in-law, Alice Spencer; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Donna was preceded in death by her son, Allen “Buddy” Spencer; granddaughter, Lisa Marie Webb; three brothers and two sisters.
