Dorcas Vaughan, age 82, passed away in Florida on December 1, 2009 with her husband and her family at her side. She was born on April 5, 1927 in Caro to the late W. Avis and Loa Ann (Crittenden) Dorman, and was a lifelong resident of Caro. The former Dorcas Dorman married Charles “Chuck” Vaughan on July 6, 1947, and together they have celebrated 62 years of marriage. She had received her teaching degree from Central Michigan University and taught in rural schools for five years. Dorcas loved to entertain and enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. She had a very happy and blessed life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Caro. Dorcas will be sadly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles “Chuck” Vaughan; son, Kim (Linda Ziemba) Vaughan; a daughter-in-law, Angela (Lewis) Vaughan; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Dorman and Ray (Barb) Dorman; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Timothy Vaughan; and sister-in-law, Esther Dorman. The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Caro on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ronald Wigand officiating. Burial will be at Almer Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Caro.
