Doreen Mclean Miller

December 11, 1929 — June 24, 2024

Pigeon

Heaven gained a precious angel as Doreen Miller, 94, of Pigeon, went to her eternal home on June 24, 2024 at Country Gardens Assisted Living in Pigeon.

Doreen was born December 11, 1929 in Highland Park, Michigan to the late Rev. Robert and C. Jennie (Goldsworthy) McLean.  In 1947 she graduated from Grass Lake High School and then attended Michigan State College.  She married Ernest Wayne Miller on June 28, 1952 at the Bad Axe Methodist Church officiated by her father; Wayne preceded her in death on February 26, 2023.

Doreen was a woman of strong Christian faith and served her church on many committees, especially the United Methodist Women.  Doreen was employed at Scheurer Hospital and was also a member of the Scheurer Hospital Auxiliary.  She was Girl Scout leader for many years.

Her all-time favorite hobby was watching her beloved MSU Spartans play basketball and football.  She loved to play bridge, read, and was a wonderful cook to her family and friends’ dinner parties.  Doreen loved the time spent at their cottage in Bay View, and embraced the Bay View Community, her neighbors, church services and especially the concerts.

Doreen is survived by her children Kathy (Larry) Neuman of Caro, Carol (Bill) Weitzel of Pigeon, David of Dearborn Heights and Robert (Susan) of Liberty, MO; grandchildren Ryan (Karin) Neuman, Craig Weitzel, Allyson (Aaron) Joyce, Kara (Andy) Toteff, Eric (Joy) Weitzel, and Kendall Miller; great-grandchildren Madelyn, Nolan, Maisey, Austin, Marcus, CJ, Brynn, Korbyn, Leah, Cooper, and Renae; special cousin Betty Simpson of Port Huron and her family.

Funeral services will be at 11:00am Friday, June 28th at the Pigeon First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Leineke officiating.  Burial will be in Grand Lawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be 3-8 Thursday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Country Gardens for their extraordinary care and friendships she shared with the staff.

Memorials may be made to Scheurer Health or Pigeon First United Methodist Church.
