Doris Isabel Brown

Doris I. Brown, 92, of Pigeon passed away peacefully at Scheurer Health Saturday, January 20, 2024.

Doris was born September 24, 1931 at home in Bay Port to the late Arthur and Lydia (Quick) Collison.  She attended Snell Elementary School near Bay Port and graduated from Bay Port High School.  She married Donald E. Brown on February 18, 1956 at the Bay Port Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ (Community of Christ) where she was a life-long member; he preceded her in death on June 6, 1972.  Her husband Don’s untimely death in June of 1972 left her with 4 young children to raise.

Doris worked for Wallace-Morley Company after high school and later started Don Brown Electric Co of Pigeon and Caro with her husband in 1956.  She was a founding Board Member of Huron County Big Brother’s/Big Sisters, and later in life worked for Michigan Directory Company until her retirement at age 70.  Doris enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, sports (Tigers), crafts, traveling, and teaching Sunday School.

Doris was a devoted mother to her children: Terry (Carol) Brown of Pigeon, Thomas Brown of Pigeon, Lynda (Jason) Briggs of Pleasanton, California, and Todd Brown of Clawson; grandchildren: Teresa (Dane) Mines, Christopher (Joane) Brown, Bryan Brown, Alison Briggs, and Cooper Briggs; great-grandchildren: Eliza Mines, Rowan Mines, and Léon Titus-Brown; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law: Lola Morin and Dorothy Collison-Rummel; and caregiver and cousin Angie Lawrence.  She was preceded in death by brothers Floyd (Irma) Collison, Roy Collison, infant brother Stanley Collison, Loren Collison, and Bob (Delphine) Collison.

Funeral services will be at 11:00am Thursday, January 25th at the Bay Port Community of Christ Church with Pastor Kathy Swartzendruber officiating.  Burial will be in Grand Lawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be 4-8pm Wednesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at church.
