Doris Mae Gilbert

Doris M. Gilbert, 83, of Caseville, died Friday, May 12, 2017 at Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe.

Doris was born May 17, 1933 in Bad Axe to the late Clayton and Sarah (McDonald) Whear. She graduated in 1951 from Bad Axe High School. She married Edward Gilbert on June 19, 1970 in Bad Axe; he preceded her in death on June 29, 2007.

Doris retired from EDS at the GM Tech Center. Having lived in Detroit and Romeo, she moved to Sand Point after retiring. She was a member of the Caseville Eagles Auxiliary, Knight of Columbus Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children Catherine Chavez of Warren, Marie Glenday of Fair Haven and Joseph (Ann) Ayotte of Virginia; step-children Cindy Martin, Deanna Stafford, Carey Gilbert, Lois Gray and Rosemary Bowers; and many grandchildren and great-children. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Henry and David and brothers Harold, Bill and John.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Friday, May 19th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with Rev. Karen Bouverette officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00am Friday until the service time.
