Dorothy Jean Bills age 80 of Grant Twp. near Cass City, went home to her Lord, Tuesday evening, November 4, at Cartwright Center Hospice in Saginaw.
She was born February 7, 1934 in Caseville, at the home of her parents the late Warner and Iva (Jean) Schultz and grew up in Pigeon.
On July 20, 1951, she was united in marriage to Herbert A. Bills in Angola, IN. They made their home in Grant Twp. where they raised five children. Herb preceded her in death February 27, 1988.
Dorothy Jean was employed General Cable, Cass City 12 years and at Walbro Mfg. for over 15 years retiring in 1999.
She was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Cass City, a member of the Friends of the Octagon Barn and Cass City VFW Auxiliary. Dorothy’s hobbies included crocheting, knitting playing cards, attending local music concerts and reading. She also enjoyed going to flea markets and auctions, and loved spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Surviving are five children, Susan Wade of Essexville, Gwen Poole of Essexville, Julie Bills of Frankenmuth, Brian (Sheryl) Bills of Frankenmuth and Michael (Dawn) Bills of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Russell Jacobs, Sarah Jacobs, Carey Poole, Eric (Sandra) Poole, Andrea (Michael) Hoig, Brandon (Kristy) Bills, Bradley Bills, Taylor (Jade) Bills, Ashley Bills and Nicole Bills; 13 great grandchildren; a great great grandson; her brother, Warner (Jan) Schultz of Wyoming; step brothers, John (Janet) Stahl of Tillamook, OR, James Butsch, Greg (Carol) Butsch and stepsister, Sally Butsch all of Portland, OR; sister-in-law, Marjorie Champagne of Pinnebog and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were son-in-law, Dave Wade, great grandson, Kegan Jackson, her step mother, Bertha Schultz; step brother, Carl Stahl; sister and her husband, Betty and Pete Belding and brother-in-law, John Champagne.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, November 8, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Cass City. Rev. Steve Bagnall, pastor will officiate with burial in Elkland Twp. Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 8 PM Friday and at the church after 10 AM Saturday.
Memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or the donor's choice
