Dorothy passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at St. Marys of Michigan hospital in Saginaw, following a lingering illness. She was born October 25, 1923 in Ypsilanti, the daughter of the late Charles M. Sarah H. (Millikin) Higley. Dorothy came to Caro with her parents as a young girl, and graduated Salutatorian from Caro High School in the class of 1941. She then graduated from Bay City Business Institute, working for several years as a bookkeeper for the Austin Construction Co. at the Dow Chemical Plant in Midland. She was united in marriage to Rex B. Binder on October 17, 1949 in Caro by the late Rev. Olaf Jensen and was a lifelong Baptist. Dorothy enjoyed playing the piano and church organ, starting as a young girl in various churches throughout her adult life. Besides being a homemaker, Dorothy was the bookkeeper for Rex Binder Sales in Caro for many years. She also enjoyed planting flowers, cooking and reading. Dorothy is survived by her husband of over 56 years, Rex B. Binder of Caro; three daughters and one son, Marion K. Binder of Caro, Lois J. Binder of Saginaw, Ruth F. Binder her husband Darwin Heme of Grand Ledge, Fred Chris Binder of Caro and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her half-sister, Marion Rabidue.
