Dorothy “Dot” Champagne, 82, of Pinnebog, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2018 at McLaren Thumb Region hospital in Bad Axe. Dorothy was born on November 2, 1935 in Kinde to the late Anthony and Martha (Poloski) Krinkie. She married Anthony William “Bill” Champagne on November 24, 1962 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Port Austin, Michigan.
Dorothy graduated from Kinde High School and was a lifelong member of St. Felix Catholic Church, Pinnebog. She worked at the Hamill Seat Belt Factory prior to her favorite jobs of being a wife, mom and homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, shopping, crafts, polka music, dancing and casino trips. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life.
Surviving family members include her husband of almost 56 years, Anthony “Bill” Champagne; her two children, Tammy (Jeff) Bimer of Whitmore Lake and Rick Champagne of Bad Axe; two precious grandchildren, Bryan Anthony Bimer and Kaitlyn Nicole Bimer; her siblings, Anthony (Jean) Krinkie of Bad Axe, and Grace (Bob) Chappel of Marlette; special goddaughter Nancy Mattice and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by three brothers, Alger, Sam and Harry Krinkie and two sisters Lillian Gottschalk and Sylvia Sullivan.
A funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 22nd at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville with Fr. Robert Pare presiding. Burial will be in the St. Felix Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
The family wishes to express our deepest gratitude and sincere thanks to Compassus Hospice and the caring nurses and staff at Courtney Manor and McLaren Thumb Region Hospital. Our hearts will mourn her passing but know that she is now at peace and free of pain.
