May 27, 1927 — March 11, 2022

Caseville

Dorothy Caroline Coon, 94, of Caseville, formerly a resident of Detroit, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022 at home under hospice care.

Dorothy was born May 27, 1927 in Detroit.  She graduated from Western High School in 1945.  In 1989 she retired from the City of Detroit where she was employed as a secretary to the Real Estate Administrator.  Upon retiring, she and her sister moved to what had been their summer home in Caseville on Saginaw Bay, lake property her family owned since 1953.  Prior to moving to Caseville, Dorothy was an elder in the Southwest Presbyterian Church in Detroit.  She was an active member of the Caseville United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Caseville Library Club.

Dorothy always said how blessed she was to live in their home on Saginaw Bay where she enjoyed entertaining family and friends.  Her kind and generous spirit will always endure with those who hold her near and dear.

She was preceded in death by her parents Byron and Ella (Kaake) Coon, her brother Joseph and his wife Violet, her sister Phyllis and her niece Marilyn Flowers and her husband William.  She is survived by many cousins and dear friends or extended family as she fondly referred to them.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, March 16th at the Caseville United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Wojewski officiating.  Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Sandusky.  Friends may begin visiting at 10:00am Wednesday at church.  Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
