Dorothy Edna Deming, 94, formerly of Bay Port, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe.
Dorothy was born at home on June 24, 1917 in Winsor Twp to the late Herman and Minnie (Rose) Eimers. She grew up along with her ten brothers and sisters in Pigeon and attending school there. On September 28, 1938 she married Raymond Deming in Bowling Green, Ohio. He preceded her in death on August 28, 1985.
Dorothy was a long time member of the Bay Port United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the Bay Port Historical Society. She lived in Bay Port until moving to Oakwood Apartments in Caseville in 1989. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading.
She is survived by her children Bill (Virginia) of Caseville, Robert (Diane) of Bay Port, Richard (Willa) of Canton, Gerogia, Betty (Jerry) House of Sebewaing and Janet (Robert) Johnston of Greenville; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister Virginia McKellar of Rose City.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Lilly Stevenson and Frances Pedler, brothers John, Earl, Edgar, Willard, Roy, Wallace and Clarence; and great-granddaughter Erika Willenberg.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with Rev. Bruce Nowacek officiating. Burial will be in New Bay Port Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3 to 8 pm Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Bay Port United Methodist Church.
