Dorothy L. Gemmill

Dorothy L. Gemmill age 76, of Lake Twp. near Oak Beach, died Friday afternoon, September 17, at her home while under hospice care.
She was born July 3, 1928 in Warren at the home of her parents, the late Ralph and Lena (Jewell) Craft.
Dorothy was a 1946 graduate of Lincoln High School and remained very active with the Alumni Assn.
On October 2, 1948, she was united in marriage to Richard C. Gemmill at Mt Calvary Lutheran in Warren. They raised their family in Warren and moved to Lake Twp . in 1990.
She had been employed at Children's Hospital, Detroit as the business office manager, retiring in 1996 with 14 years of service.
She was a member of Cross Lutheran Church and the Caseville Library Club and member and past president of the Caseville Eagle Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband, Richard; two daughters, Constance (Tom) VanWieren of Rapid City and Nancy Lafferty of Troy; two granddaughters, Megan and Emily VanWieren; two brothers, Harry (Amelia) Craft of Surprise, AZ and Robert (June) Craft of Rochester and her sister, Betty (Joe) Sikorski of Huntersville, NC. Two sisters, Hazel Hendry and Rachel Cagle preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, September 20, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Caseville with Rev. Del Hudson, pastor of Cross Lutheran Church officiating.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 PM Sunday and after 12 noon Monday.
