Dorothy L. Gill, age 91, passed away peacefully at the Huron County Medical Care Facility on Thursday, April 16, 2009, following a period of declining health. Dorothy was born June 22, 1917 in Elmwood Township, the daughter of the late Alvinza & Edna (Bosley) Robinson, and was a lifelong area resident. She was united in marriage with Woodrow W. Gill on November 27, 1937 in Caro. He preceded her in death after forty-four years of marriage on August 20, 1980. Dorothy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro and a charter member of the Caro VFW Post #4164 Auxiliary. She was a homemaker for her family most of her adult life, but was employed in several jobs during that time with the Clark Canning Company and Thumb Laundry for several years, as well as the Caro Motel for seventeen years, retiring in 1979. Dorothy enjoyed working in her garden, being the Den Mother with the Cub Scouts, quilting, ceramics, needle point and watching the Detroit Tigers. Dorothy is survived by two daughters, one son and their spouses, Janet & Larry Tomlinson of Caseville, Nora & Lee Jacoby of Caseville, Darrell & Cathy Gill of Caro; eight grandchildren, Kevin & Sheila Tomlinson of Cass City, Gregory & Karly Tomlinson of Chicago, Illinois, Thomas & Dawn Tomlinson of Caro, Mark & Melissa Tomlinson of Cass City, Chastity & Duane Hartman of Unionville, Roger & Mary Jacoby of Akron, Ame & Ed Reivert of Gagetown, Chad & Robin Gill of Caro; thirteen great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cassandra, Justin, and Brandon Tomlinson, Brittany Karr, Austin Tomlinson, Conner Jacoby, Devin, Donovan and Dylanna Hartman, Mackenzie Jacoby, Eric and Carlee Reivert; one brother, Theodore Robinson of Caro; one sister, Katherine Dean of Bad Axe and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by six brothers, Percy, Theron, Gordon Lee, Francis, as well as Alvinza and Sherwood, both killed in World War II; two sisters, Shirley Watson and Mamie Saffron.
