Dorothy A. Gruehn

Dorothy A. Gruehn, age 94, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Thursday, March 27, 2025.

Dorothy was born in Pigeon on April 12, 1930, to the late David and Mary (Wolfram) Vollmer. She married Leon C. Gruehn on April 18, 1953 in Pigeon. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1991.

Dorothy was a member of Our Lady Consolata Catholic Church in Sebewaing the Women's Circle and taught catechism. She did mending for the Huron Medical Care Facility, was a member of Farm Bureau, was a 4-H leader, enjoyed bowling, playing cards, dancing, sewing, baking and spending time with family.

Dorothy is survived by her children: JoAnne (Doug) Rasmussen of Reese and Sand Point, Patrick (Amy) Gruehn of Owendale, Gerry (Roger) Vermeersch of Unionville, Lynn (Jeffrey) Valentine of Sebewaing and Carol (Michael) VanHoost of Unionville; daughter-in-law, Terry Gruehn of Sebewaing; grandchildren: Kelsey Rasmussen-Bell, Andrew (Chandra) Rasmussen, Nathan (Kamryn) Gruehn, Dustin (Brooke) Gruehn, Jordon (Lauren) Gruehn, Craig (Angie) Vermeersch, Troy (Tara) Vermeersch, Brandon (Jenni) Vermeersch, Amanda (Lucas) Stockmeyer, Shaun (Jenny) Gruehn, Steve (Allison) Gruehn, Brad (Tiffany) Gruehn, Brittany (Caleb) Brow, Tyson (Carley) Valentine, Cami (Garrett) McNeil, Calie (Mac) Montgomery, Lance (Mackenzie) VanHoost and Ashlyn (Erik) Dhyse; 46 great grandchildren and 1 due in July.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Mark Gruehn; siblings: John (Gloria), Art (Vernita) Frank (Phyllis) Dave (Audrey) Vollmer, Helen (Wilmer) Nimtz; ½ siblings: Ray Carl and Alfred Vollmer, Mary Hinton and Margaret Schmidt; parent-in-laws: Henry and Alberta Gruehn.

Visitation will be Monday, March 31, 2025 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home, Inc. in Sebewaing from 2pm-8pm.

The funeral mass will be Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Our Lady Consolata Catholic Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Burial will be at the church cemetery in Sebewaing. A luncheon will follow.

Memorial donations may be given to Our Lady Consolata or the family (c/o Lynn Valentine).
