Dorothy May Harrington passed away peacefully Monday, May 24, 2010 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, only a few hours short of her eighty-eighth birthday. Dorothy was born May 25, 1922 in Akron, the daughter of the late Frank Elsie (Frank) Harrington. She was employed for Universal Oil Seal Company of Ferndale until moving back to Akron in 1968. Dorothy then began her career in education as a middle school teacher with the Fairgrove Public Schools, a position she held until her retirement. Dorothy was a member of the Caro VFW Auxiliary #4164 and the Michigan Retired Teachers Association. Her hobbies included needle-point, canning, traveling, working with the 4-H program and socializing with her family and friends. Dorothy is survived by one son, David Harrington of Newberry; two brothers and their spouses, Glen Ruth Harrington of Akron, Clare Dorothy Harrington of Fairgrove; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Harrington.
