Dorothy Jean Johnson

Dorothy Jean Johnson of Caro, age 82, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, following a period of declining health. She was born December 14, 1930 in Peck, the daughter of the late Olin and Joyce (Bailey) Louks. She came to Caro as a child and was a graduate of Caro High School. The former Dorothy Louks was united in marriage with Ray Johnson on December 2, 1961 in Caro, and he preceded her in death on September 17, 2001. Dorothy was a homemaker and for fifteen years was employed as a nurse's aide at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She enjoyed her family, watching Detroit Tigers Baseball, football, eating out, playing cards and knitting. She was a member of the Caro United Methodist Church and in early years the CB club. Dorothy is survived by three children, Debra & Larry Boitel of Caro, Richard & Bonnie Haslacker of Saginaw and David & Patricia Johnson of Fairgrove; a son-in-law, Doug Shoup of Caseville; thirteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Adeline Louks of Saginaw, Judy Louks of Caro and Eunice Louks of Caro; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Cheryl Shoup; one sister and brother-in-law, Arlene & JD Keller; three brothers, Gary, Richard and William Louks; and a grandson, Jeffery Tyler Malloy. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the Caro United Methodist Church in Caro with Rev. Gregg Mayberry officiating. In keeping with Dorothy's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 am.
