Dorothy Kovacs

Dorothy Marie Kovacs, age 84, passed away Monday, September 24, 2007 at Tendercare Nursing Center in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, following a lingering illness. Dorothy was born March 5, 1923 in Caro, the daughter of the late William and Antoinette (Potuzski) Baranski and was a lifelong Caro resident. She was married to Steve Kovacs on June 28, 1941 in Detroit, moving back to Caro in 1945. Dorothy was a farmers wife that enjoyed cooking, gardening, raising a family and helping her husband with the farm. She was a member of the Catholic faith. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years on April 21, 1992. She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Diane & Phil Jerome of Northville, Stephen Kovacs of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Margo & James Gray of Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, Mark Kovacs of Maineville, Ohio, Bill Kovacs & Kim of Odessa, Florida; three grandchildren, Randi Suzanne, Adam and Alex Kovacs; her constant friend and companion, Max McNeil of Caro; three brothers, Frank, John and William Baranski and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by three brothers, Stanley, Edward and Raymond Baranski; three sisters, Marion Martinka, Cecelia Davis and Genevieve Baranic; as well as her life long friend, Maxine Vandecar Bennett.
