Dorothy A. Kuisel, age 92, of Sebewaing, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012 at Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro after a long illness. Dorothy was born August 14, 1919 in Sebewaing, the daughter of Frederick and Caroline (Finkbeiner) Currey. She married Melvin L. Kuisel on October 12, 1940 in Sebewaing, and he preceded her in death on July 26, 2005.

Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn (Don) Kelcher of Sebewaing and Shirley (Norman) Lupton of Caro, six grandchildren; Steven (Elizabeth) Kelcher of Sebewaing, Mark Kelcher of Sebewaing, Matthew (Elizabeth) Kelcher of Freeland, Michelle (Michael) Bolzman of Sebewaing, Kevin (Amy) Lupton of Oxford, Brian (Jacqueline) Lupton of Huntington Woods, MI. She has ten great grandchildren; Rachel (Sam) Bennett of Fairbanks, Alaska, Andrew and Rebecca Kelcher of Freeland, Brandon and Brianna Bolzman of Sebewaing, Kendall, Olivia and Tyler Lupton of Oxford, Alexia and Carter Lupton of Huntington Woods, MI. She is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Vernita Currey of Sebewaing and Maureen Currey of Rochester Hills, MI.

She is preceded in death by two sisters, Verna Nietzke and Laura Pearsall and two brothers, Melvin and Carlton Currey.

Dorothy attended Mast Country School located on the Currey family farm. She then attended Sebewaing High School and graduated in 1936. She then later graduated from Cosmetology School and worked as a beautician in Bad Axe. Dorothy and Melvin worked on their family business for many years. Dorothy also worked for the Michigan Sugar Company in the office and as a bookkeeper and proof reader at the Sebewaing Blade.

Dorothy was a life member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Sebewaing holding many positions at the church: Sunday School Secretary, Administrative Council Secretary and served as Communion Steward. She was a life member of Order of the Eastern Stars.

Dorothy enjoyed traveling, crafts, playing cards and always enjoyed spending time with her family.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 2-9pm at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing.

Funeral service will be held Friday, August 17, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Sebewaing at 11am. Additional visitation from 10am until 11am at the church.

Memorials may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church and Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, Forget-me-nots Fund.
