Our loving mother, Dorothy Jane Mullin, age 83, of Caro, went to be with her Lord from United Hospice Residence in Marlette on October 1, 2009 with her family at her side. She was born on April 19, 1926 in Cass City to the late John Lewis and Lena Mae (Tedford) Slickton. The former Dorothy Jane Slickton and Robert Andrew Mullin were married on May 19, 1943 in Napoleon, Ohio. He preceded her in death on September 9, 1995. Dorothy was a mother and homemaker, as well as a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Sharon Lee (James) Perks of Lapeer, Barbara Elaine (Steven) Batdorff of Traverse City, Cathleen Elizabeth (Randy) Barriger of Caro, Robert Andrew Mullin, Jr. of Cass City and Terry Michael (Cynthia) Mullin of Caro; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Wilda (Neal) Hess of Vassar and Nancy Kreil of Vassar; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by the remainder of her siblings, Karen Hughey, Darlene Wilder and Ernest (Butch) Barrons. Funeral Liturgy will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. John Ladd officiating. Rite of Committal will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Vigil for the Deceased will be held at the funeral on Monday at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Dorothy Mullin family discretionary fund, c/o Terry Mullin.
