Dorothy Powell

Dorothy Powell, age 85 years, of Cass City, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at her sons residence. She was born on December 4, 1922 at Pontiac. The former Dorothy Hudson married Theodore A. Powell on May 29, 1948 in Mayville, and he preceded her in death on August 6, 2002. The Powells lived in Pontiac and returned to Cass City in 1967. Dorothy was a devoted mother and homemaker with most of her interest centering around those activities. She is survived by her children, Robert and Shirley Lipe of Caro, Darrold and Sandra Lipe of Cass City, Jerry and Dianne Lipe of Caro, Theodore R. and Debra Powell of Kingston; daughter-in-law, Donna Gibson of Cass City; 22 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, Dennis (Joyce) Hudson of Pontiac, Sharon (Kenny) Smith of Goodrich and Arlene Cooper of Davison; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Denny Gibson; one great-grandson, Stevie Hughes; one daughter, Donna Leone Lipe; and one brother, Bill Hudson. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Novesta Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
