Dorothy J. Romain

Dorothy J. Romain of Ischua, New York, formerly of Caro, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Olean General Hospital in New York, following an extended illness. Dorothy was 93 years old. Born on June 27, 1921 in Detroit, she was a daughter of Walter D. & Hazel Jeetter Hill. On June 24, 1947, in Ohio, she married Michael Romain, who preceded her in death. In her younger years, she was a nursing home caregiver in Michigan. She then went on to work for the phone company, from which she retired. Dorothy was a member of the Caro Moose Lodge for more than sixty years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and slot machines at the casino. Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Nancy Bedell of Cypress, Texas; a son, Derek Romain of Cass City; son-in-law and caregiver, Clifford E. Lowe of Ischua, New York; a special friend, Louan Woodruff; twelve grandchildren; several great- and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Carole and Marilyn; and two sons, James and Michael. A time of gathering will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the Almer Township Cemetery in Caro.
