Dorothy Ruth Sy, of Saginaw, formerly of Unionville, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Covenant Healthcare (Cooper).
Dorothy was born in Unionville on April 17, 1929, to Adolf and Susanna (Becker) Lehman. As a child she attended the Lyman School #5 in Columbia Township where she completed the 8 th grade. She married Harold Sy on October 19, 1946, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville. Harold preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 2010. Dorothy enjoyed being a homemaker, being a member of the Ladies Aid, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and choir. She also enjoyed traveling to Florida in the winters from 1972 to 2005, quilting, sewing, crossword puzzles, working puzzles, baking, taking care of her children and spending time with her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her 3 children: Harold (Carolyn) Sy, Jr., Sandra (Michael) Kotenko and Christine (Michael) Maxwell; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Shirley Keyser.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 5 siblings: Edward Lehman, William Lehman, Ida Sivic, Elsie Hahn and Frieda Sy.
Visitation will be Friday, March 26, 2021, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-8pm. Masks must be worn and only 25 allowed in the building at one time.
The funeral service will be Saturday, March 27, 2021, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville. Visitation will begin at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Masks must be worn.
Burial will be at Columbia Township Cemetery in Unionville.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville or the charity of your choice.
