Douglas E Brakenberry age 84, retired Colfax Twp. farmer died Thursday afternoon, March 21 at Courtney Manor, Bad Axe, under hospice care.
He was born March 20, 1918 at the home of his parents; the late Edward and Delia (Wilder) Brakenberry in Colfax Twp. Douglas attended McDowell Country School.
On March 1, 1941 he was united in marriage to Minnie Motz the Assembly of God Church on Heisterman St. in Bad Axe.
He and Minnie lived in Monroe for two years and then moved to Colfax Twp., where they lived and farmed most of their lives. He retired in 1976 and they moved to Oliver Twp.
He was a member of the Evangel Life Assembly of God, where he was a board member and was a member of the Thumb Two Cylinder Club.
Surviving are his wife, Minnie; four children, Marilyn (John) Smithers of Elkton, Marie (Duane) Schember of Pigeon, Ralph (Linda) Brakenberry also of Pigeon and Ron (Brenda) Brakenberry of Bad Axe; ten grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren and two sisters, June Nicholls of Woodhaven, and Irene (Warren) Benzo of Brooklyn.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday at Evangel Life Assembly of God Church, Bad Axe. Rev. Robert E. Smith, pastor will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton
