Douglas Ensign of Kingston, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Covenant Health Care - Cooper in Saginaw. Doug was born February 29, 1936 in Caro, the son of the late Leland and Alice (Dorrance) Ensign, and was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1954. He was united in marriage with the former Marilyn G. Rich on December 1, 1956 at the Goodland Baptist Church in Brown City. Doug started out working for his father at Doug's Mobile Service. He went on to work at Dave Hall Chevrolet in Marlette, and finished his working career at Saginaw Steering Gear where he worked on the line, advancing to a machinist position, for thirty years prior to his retirement. Doug was an all-around jack-of-all-trades, having built his own home. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, snowmobiling, camping and hunting. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of sixty-two years, Marilyn Ensign; six children and their spouses, Wayne & Janet Ensign of Gladwin, Lyle Ensign of Kingston, Kelly & Larry Harding of Cedar Springs, Randy & Becky Ensign of Howard City, Ronald & Rhonda Ensign of Gregory, Steve Ensign of Kingston; grandchildren and spouses, Mindy, Danny & Kristin, Melissa & Paul, Dana & Derek, Justin & Karri, Douglas, Josh & Shelby, Becca, Nick, Jake, Erin, Katelyn, Kristen, Kyle, Alax, Alison, and Ashley; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister and spouse, Marguerite & Jim Caswell; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by three siblings and their spouses, Eleanor & Frank Brooks, Dorothy & Basil Hudson, Lee & Theda Ensign. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2019 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor Keith Mead officiating. Burial will follow at the Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro.
