Douglas Henry Rieck

Heaven opened its doors today for a wonderful person. Douglas Henry Rieck passed away on July 3, 2026 in Caro. He was the son of Herbert and Regina Rieck of Unionville, Michigan.

Doug was born on July 1, 1939 in Unionville. While in school, he ran track, played baseball, football, and basketball. He was the school’s Champion of Table Tennis and graduated from Unionville in 1957.

Doug married Donna Randall of Kingston on May 9, 1959. They celebrated their 67th anniversary. The couple had two children.

Doug served on the Caro Hospital Endowment Board. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he served as Vice President., an usher, and a Trustee. He worked on their building committee and served as a counselor to the youth group.

He also worked with boy scouts, as Assistant Scout Master, a Webelos Leader. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, shooting darts, playing pool, pitching for men’s softball, and feeding the birds.

He is survived by his wife Donna, his son Dale (Audrey) of Caro, his daughter, Dawn (Larry) Marruffo of Crystal Lake, Illinois, four grandchildren, Alex, Talia, Daniel and Megan of Caro, Allison and Romeo Hernandez, and Anna Marruffo of Crystal Lake, Illinois. Two great-grandsons, Levi and Walker Hernandez of Crystal Lake, Illinois.

A funeral service for Doug will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 6356 Center St, Unionville, MI 48767. Visitation will take place on Thursday July 9, 2026 at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday at 10:00 a.m. until the time of his service. Internment will take place at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Unionville.
