Dr. Kathryn Ann Sandlin

Dr. Kathryn Ann (Knoll) Sandlin of Caro, age 63, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township. Kathy was born February 27, 1953 in Cass City, the daughter of Mary (Romzek) Knoll and the late Charles W. Knoll. A natural student by nature, Kathy graduated from Caro High School in 1971 and would later earn her doctorate in business management, all while maintaining an "A" average throughout her academic career. Kathy was united in marriage with William H. Sandlin at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro on October 2, 1971, with the couple observing their forty-fifth wedding anniversary this year. Her husband, Bill, is retired from the U.S. Marine Corps, and Kathy worked as Government Service for the Marines, Navy and most recently with USDA in Caro in the Housing Department. She also assisted in the creation of the defense budget for Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld. Kathy was a loving wife, mother and friend, and was greatly respected around the world. Kathy is survived by her husband, William H. Sandlin of Caro; one son and his wife, William O. and Hope (Ewald) Sandlin; one grandson, Colton; her mother, Mary M. (Romzek) Knoll; four brothers and their spouses, Phillip & Carmen (Reyes) Knoll of Chesapeake, Virginia, Dominic & Gabriele (Heinstein) Knoll of Caro, Bartholomew & Veronica (Michaels) of Deford, Christopher & Barbara (Lich) Knoll of Fairgrove. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Site in Caro with Rev. Jerzy Dobosz officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider contributions to the Sandlin Family Discretionary Fund.
