Duane L. Alexander, 98, formerly of Elkton, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Ascension Providence Hospital in Rochester Hills.

Duane was born January 6, 1924 in Bay Port to the late Roy and Helda Alexander. He graduated from Bay Port High School in 1942 and served in the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He met Mary Cook while on leave in Mississippi and they were married January 31, 1946 in Columbus, Mississippi; she preceded him in death May 24, 2016.

He retired as Police Chief from the Village of Elkton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports.

Duane is survived by his son Michael (Betsy) of Rochester Hills; grandchildren Bradley, Jaime (Jessie) Rhodes, and Jeremy Stroud; great-grandchildren Madison, Mallerie, and Macie Rhodes. He was preceded in death by his son Bruce and daughter Robin Stroud; and brothers Bill and Terry.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, January 29th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ean Green officiating. Burial will be in New Bay Port Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-6 Friday.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
